Our Story

In 1993, Tom Wideman opened the first Moose Winooski’s in Kitchener with the vision of a lively, laidback family environment, and a simple heartfelt philosophy: to completely indulge our guests.  Twenty seven years later, Tom, his business partner, John Zizzo, and the Moose Winooski’s team are still serving Guests at our original Kitchener location at Sportsworld Crossing, as well as in Barrie under the same guiding philosophy of delivering great comfort cuisine, northern hospitality, and all-about-you service.

As you step into the cabin, you’ll be greeted with a genuine cottage welcome and a warm smile.  Cozy up in front of the lodge fireplace, let us entertain the whole family in the dining area, or catch the game on the big screens at the bar—all while enjoying the comfort cuisine that you love, done the best it can be done.

On our menu you’ll find only fresh cuisine, each dish prepared from scratch starting with our Chef’s original recipes. Our fall-off-the-bone ribs, huge roaster wings, top shelf salads, AAA steaks, and dockside-inspired cocktails will please any guest’s appetite. We pride ourselves in taking excellent care of our guests with a warm welcome, friendly smiles, activities for little ones, recommendations, accommodations, and absolute attentiveness. At Moose Winooski’s we pay attention to every little detail so that you don’t have to.

Moose Winooski’s is affiliated with The Charcoal Group of Restaurants who operate The Charcoal Steakhouse, Bauer Kitchens, Wildcraft, Martini’s, Del’s, Beertown Public Houses and Sociable Kitchen and Tavern. Our Group’s absolute commitment to providing our Guests with unparalleled service and fresh, quality food has allowed us to grow within our communities and provide employment for well over 750 team members. We are honored to be chosen by you to spend quality time in our restaurants.
